Booth Etiquette for Artists and Crafters

September 25th, 2009

I was wondering what one thing other #art & craft vendors do that tick you off at craft shows?

Looking at it from both the perspective of a show promoter and artist the one thing that other vendors at shows do that bothers me the most is not including the legs of their displays into the size of their booth.

Having the legs of their display sticking into the aisles and into the booths next to them is hard for show promoters, as well as dangerous for customers and also inconveniences the vendors in booths nearby.  Show promoters are then pressed to find an acceptable compromise for everyone.

Keeping all parts of your display in the footprint of your booth keeps everyone happy.

Yes, this is the most irritating thing, and jusr plan rude, Everyone has the same amount of space, be polite and keep in ypur own space. That and also standing in front of my booth and having long conversations. THis is blocking my booth. THis happened to me once and the vendor next to me passed out free samples n front of my booth, So people could see his booth, but blocked mine.

I totally agree it is rude and irritating. Every one paid the same for the space and the promoter would have more time to deal with real emergencies and good customer service if everyone was considerate of the fact that there will always be limited space.

I suggest asking the show promoter to ask them to stay in their own space and not block your booth when doing samples.

I also find it disrespectful when artists and crafters (and their family and friends) block stage areas with young children playing keeping demonstrations and other events from going smoothly especially with a huge park just out the door.

    Thanks for commenting,

    Shasta
